The Eagle was a British aircraft carrier built by Armstrong Whitworth. Commissioned February 26, 1924, she had a displacement of 22,600 tons. On August 11, 1942, she was hit by four torpedoes from U-73 and sank south of Cape Salinas.
The Edinburgh was a British Town-class light cruiser built by Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson. Commissioned July 6, 1939, she had a displacement of 11,500 tons. After being struck by torpedoes from German U-boats and destroyers, she sank off of Bear Island May 2, 1942.
The Eidsvold was a Norwegian coastal defense ship built by the British company Armstrong & Whitworth in 1899. She was first commissioned March 7, 1901 with a displacement of 4,200 tons. She was sunk April 9, 1940 in Narvik Harbor by German torpedoes during the German invasion of Norway.
Eisenhower, Dwight David (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969)
Was a 5 star General of the U.S. Army. He served as Supreme Commander of the victorious Allied forces in Europe and was in charge of planning and supervising the invasion of France and Germany from the Western Front. Eisenhower rode a wave of popularity as a war hero to become the 34th President of the United States. In 1951, he became the first Supreme Commander of NATO.
The Elli was a Greek light cruiser built by New York Ship Building in the United States. She was commissioned November 5, 1913 and had a displacement of 2,115 tons. She was sunk August 15, 1940 during peace time by the Italian submarine Delfino near the island of Tinos.
